Trying to decide if you should enroll in autodesk's subscription program...
If you are thinking of upgrading you CADD software you will surely be "encouraged" by the reseller to purchase a subscription.  A subscription is a yearly maintenance program where you pay a fee per license and you will automatically receive any new/updated versions which are released that year.   You are not guaranteed however that you will get a new version, even though everyone thinks of it that way.  Autodesk has been on a yearly release cycle for a number of years now so chances are you will get 1 new version within your subscription period.  You will also get free technical support (but don't confuse that with free training).  There are also some web based training resources.

When it comes down to it, most people consider this a good way to budget for software.  If you skip a few version and then decide to upgrade you'll have to come up with a big chunk of change to "get current".  Upgrade pricing is based on how many versions behind you are.  The numbers typically end up being about the same, so think of subscription as a way to get "free" support from autodesk.

Now if you're wondering why the resellers are pushing the subscription, well that should come as no surprise, they make profit on it now rather than waiting until the next time you upgrade.

So, should you subscribe?  Well it's not a bad deal.  Think of it as a paying up front for the software in exchange for free support from autodesk.  But if you don't have the cash available...it's not a must have.
