When a new version of software is released we are frequently asked our opinion.  So here is my honest opinion.

Autocad 2007.  Awesome!
ADT 2007 is ok.

Kudos to the AutoCAD programmers.  The have made significant improvements, particularly in the 3D realm.  3D modeling in previous versions of AutoCAD was challenging to say the least.  If you found it challenging to create your geometry, just trying modifying it!!   Thankfully that's all changed.   The tools to create the geometry are now graphical and intuitive, and modifying the geometry works the same way.  Now that's a novel idea.  You can now easily draw on the surface of your 3d models thanks to the new tool called dynamic UCS. And if you like that try creating your geometry from a perspective view or just hold your ctrl down while pressing the middle mouse wheel to spin around the model.

After creating your geometry you may want to show it to someone.  Now you can quickly make it look nice with visual styles.  You have a traditional hidden line view but I have no idea why you'd use it when you've got conceptual and realistic modes.  You can tweak all these views to suit your needs.  For example with conceptual you can add edge overhand and jitter to lines to make it really look sketchy.  With the realistic view you can apply sunlight, choose your position on the planet,  turn on ground or full shadows and apply materials.  The only drawback is that if you don't have a speedy computer this may slow you down a bit.

Anyway, I hope you get the idea.  I'll try to update this with a full list of features in the not too distant future.

As far as the ADT improvements go, I didn't see anything earth shattering.  The biggest object improvements are with slabs and stairs and spaces.  Slabs can now have multiple components.  This way when you cut a section through your model it can have the additional slab details.  There is a new custom stair object and you really can make CUSTOM stairs.  Sky is the limit as they have taken an approach which allows you to customize each tread, riser and stringer via grips.  Spaces have changed significantly as they have combined "Area" objects with them.  It's much easier to get spaces to update with wall geometry, but still not automatic, and spaces can be organized into zones for analysis.

I'll be back soon to finish this review... until then if you want to know more give us a call.
